Legendary musician Kabir Sumon came to Dhaka and won the hearts of the audience. Kabir Sumon played several songs one by one at the Engineers Institution Auditorium in the country's capital city, Dhaka, yesterday at 5 p.m. Bangladesh time. He came to visit Dhaka after a very long time.
In the between his performances, he mentioned that while he was working in Germany in a Radio station in Bengali department, he met few Bangladeshi journalists. Their memories are still shining in his hearts even today. The singer stated that while some of them have passed away, others are living in different countries. However, one of them is still living in Dhaka and his name is Shahjahan Farooq.
After saying his name, Suman went on to say, "I don't know if Shahjahan Farooq is here…", but before he could even finish his sentence, a voice from the audience replied, "I am here…"
Kabir Suman was caught off guard. He was unable to believe his own eyes, seeing his long-lost friend after such a long time. The singer was seated at that time, but asked crew members to help him stand up so he could embrace his friend Farooq.
At the same time, journalist Shahjahan Farooq was also asked to come up on the stage, where he would be embraced by Suman. Being overwhelmed with emotions Suman's eyes became visibly teary.
Kabir Suman last came to Dhaka in 2009. This year marks 30 years since the release of his first modern music album 'Tomake Chai' released in 1992. He has come to Bangladesh to sing as part of the celebration of this occasion. The event was was named, Celebrating 30 Years of 'Tomake Chai', 'Suman's Song and Bangla Khayal'.
