Dampara, a film set against the backdrop of the liberation war, has recently obtained censor clearance. Featuring the exceptional acting talents of Ferdous Ahmed and Ashna Habib Bhabna, Dampara tells the story of a police superintendent and his wife during this tumultuous period in history. With its powerful narrative and skilled performances, the movie is set to captivate audiences.
Ferdous Ahmed brings to life the character of a police superintendent, while Ashna Habib Bhabna delivers an outstanding portrayal of Mahmuda Haque Chowdhury, the wife of Shamsul Haque. The shooting of Dampara concluded in June last year, and with its recent censor clearance, the film is now ready to make its mark on the big screen.
The inspiring story of Dampara centers on SP Shamsul Islam, who was responsible for the armory at the Dampara Police Lines in Chittagong during the war. When the Pakistani Army demanded the keys to the warehouse, Shamsul Islam bravely dispersed the weapons across the country, including Chittagong. His courage and quick thinking hindered the Pakistani Army's plans, making him a true hero of the liberation war.
Following the persecution of Hindus in Chittagong after the 1970 election, Bangabandhu reassigned SP Shamsul Islam to Chittagong from Sylhet. This strategic move placed him in the Pakistani Army's crosshairs, further highlighting his importance in the fight for freedom. Anan Zaman crafted the screenplay and dialogues for "Dampara," with Shuddhoman Chaitnya skillfully directing the film.
The censor clearance for Dampara was granted on April 18th, and Anan Zaman confirmed receiving the official copy on May 2nd. Overjoyed by the clearance, Zaman shared his ambitious plans for the movie's release. He aims to premiere Dampara during the upcoming Eid ul-Adha, ensuring that audiences have the opportunity to experience this powerful tribute to a liberation war hero and the sacrifices made for freedom.
