The upcoming 'Choltorongo' Film Festival, organized by the BUET Film Society, is set to showcase the crowd-funded movie 'Saantao'. The screening will take place at 3 pm on July 11th, in the seminar hall of the BUET Auditorium Complex, and is open to all.

As long as a film resonates with the audience, its lifespan continues. Since its theatrical release on January 27th, 'Saantao' has been showcased at over a hundred alternative exhibitions across various districts of Bangladesh. Even in its seventh month post-release, the demand from viewers to see the film remains unabated.

'Saantao' had its world premiere in Panaji, Goa, at India's 53rd International Film Festival on November 24th last year.

The film 'Saantao' brings to screen the struggles of a farmer, the universal aspect of motherhood, and the joys and sorrows, laughter and tears, of a musical community. The film was produced through crowd-funding, featuring Ainnun Putul and Fazlul Haq in lead roles. The script, screenplay, and dialogue of the movie were penned by Khondokar Suman.

The film 'Saantao' was awarded the 'Best Production Design' at the 'Third Bangladesh Film Festival', organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, on March 3rd. The film was also showcased at the 18th session of the Trishur International Film Festival in Trishur city, Kerala, India on March 5th. Prior to this, the film won the 'FIPRESCI Award' for the best film in the Bangladesh Panorama section at the Dhaka International Film Festival on January 23rd.

'Saantao' earned the title of the best film in the World Panorama section at the 6th Nepal International Film Festival and received the Gautam Buddha World Award. Recently, it secured a Special Mention Award from the Rainbow Film Society at the 24th Rainbow International Film Festival held in London.
