The highly anticipated film 'Ma,' directed by Aranyo Anawer, has generated an unprecedented spectacle leading up to its worldwide release on May 19, coinciding with International Mother's Day. Marking Anawer's directorial debut, the movie has been the focus of a vibrant promotional campaign, including the unveiling of posters, trailers, songs, and behind-the-scenes footage.
On Thursday (May 4), a unique event took place when thousands of "mother's children" gathered in the capital's heart to participate in the Shubo Buddha Purnima national collective peace procession and harmony festival. Carrying posters and banners for the movie, they were joined by the film's creators, producers, artists, and well-wishers, who cheered with chants of "Ma." Such a display has never been seen before in the organization of a national festival centered around a movie.
Director Aranyo Anawer expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating that the film's promotion began during the Eid-ul-Fitr festival and continued with the Buddha Purnima festival. He described the incredible feeling of witnessing the enthusiasm and passion for the film and emphasized the movie's unique story of a mother's battle and love for her child.
Dhallywood's leading actress, Pori Moni, plays the central role in 'Ma' and shares the emotional connection to the project. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the procession due to other commitments. The national festival, held in Shahbagh, saw people of all religions present alongside the 'Ma' team. Organized by the Bangladesh Buddhist Cultural Council, the event featured speeches by key figures, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and representatives of the Thai and Chinese embassies.
Renowned playwright Aranyo Anawer, in his first film, spoke about the long-awaited production, expressing relief that it was finally nearing release. He hopes that audiences will be captivated by the film, which also stars Azad Abul Kalam, Farzana Chobi, Saju Khadem, Rebena Reza Jui, Shilpi Sarkar Apu, and Shahadat Hossain. The film is produced under the banner of Arany Pulok (AP).
