Singer Akbar is no more. He died at Birdem Hospital in the capital on Sunday. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un.
He was suffering from diabetes. Jaundice, kidney problems, inflammation of the blood and other health complications for two years. He has been bedridden since January. The news of his death was confirmed by his wife Kaniz Fatema.
Akbar drove a rickshaw in Jessore before becoming known as a singer. Although Akbar was born in Paikgacha, Khulna, he grew up in Jessore. Kishore Kumar's 'Ekdin Pakhi Ure' was sung anew by Akbar Ali Ghazi. He is known as Akbar to everyone. The song brought him into discussion on Hanif Sanket's magazine show 'Etyadi'. After that, the song 'Tomar Hat Pakhar Batashe' made him known to the audience and listeners of the country and abroad. Before this he used to sing in various stage shows in Jessore.
