Anandabazar Online, a prominent West Bengal-based Indian media outlet, has announced its "Best of the Year" awards, with the title of Best Actress going to a talent from Bangladesh – Pori Moni.
Pori Moni traveled to Kolkata to accept the prestigious award, which was presented to her by CPM State Secretary Mohammad Salim and Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta at the ITC Royal Bengal Hotel.
Upon receiving the award, Pori Moni advocated for increased collaboration between the film industries of the two Bengals, calling for the mutual screening of Bengali movies in both regions.
Since making her on-screen debut in 2015, Pori Moni's career has steadily gained momentum. She captured the hearts of audiences with her performances in numerous films, such as 'Valobasa Shimahin', 'Aro Valobasbo Tomai', 'Nogar Mastan', 'Rokta', 'Pure Jai Mon', 'Apan Manoosh', 'Sona Bandhu', 'Swapnajaal', and 'Gunin'. Pori Moni mentioned that Kolkata once felt like a foreign land to her, but not anymore.
Ritwick Chakraborty was honored with the Best Actor award, presented to him by actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Anirban Bhattacharya. Anandabazar Online Editor Anindya Jana and theater director-actress Sohini Sengupta hosted the event.
It is worth noting that Anandabazar Online's annual "Best of the Year" event celebrates the achievements of individuals from both Bengals across various fields.
